REALTORS® Susan Drew and Marie Goodloe became partners in 2008, but as far as they're concerned it feels much longer. The successful women are agents with First Team Real Estate in Long Beach and in addition to selling homes; they have quite a bit in common. Perhaps this is why they teamed up in the first place even though they have been working in the same office for years. ''We were mentoring the new agents together for three years and we found that we were doing well together," said the Louisiana-raised Goodloe. "It was working out great so we decided to make it full time." Drew, a New Jersey native, has 24 years in real estate while Goodloe has 15 years in the business. "I love what I do because it is a challenge," said Goodloe, a former retail and consumer collections specialist. "We work off each other well; everyone has their good days and their better days and it's nice to have someone there," said Drew, formerly in the headhunting/legal services business. "Our work ethics are similar and that was important to me when I decided to team with Marie." Both women agree that real estate is the perfect career choice: "I like the diversity of this job and not having to break the monotony," Goodloe said. "Every client is different, every sale is different." Before they joined forces, Drew worked mostly alone, but Goodloe was with a team. "I definitely see the two of us working together for a long time," Goodloe said. Susan who is the more assertive one likes to get things done, while Goodloe enjoys the more intricate aspects of the business. "We are great at doing a short sale and negotiating," Goodloe said.
